Student answer (Band 5.5)
The diagram illustrates layout areas of town square and surrounding in 2014 . As well as it depicts the proposed development happened in the area by 2020.
if we compare the following development according to the diagrams. in 2014 we could see there that in the above corner there was a fish market which has converted into supermarket in 2020 which reflects the access of lots of things . if we focus on the history museum has replaced by local artists gallery . in the center the fountain and town hall in the right corner are at the same place from 2014 to 2020 changes but above the fountain there was used to be a bandstand but now it has a plant beds and there we can also identify children playground as well as cover seating at the central area .even in the place of administrative buildings we can see observe many tiny shops are opened in that area but library, fish restaurant ,bar this were missing from the diagram of 2020 layout . maybe in near future we could see lots of changes happening in that following places which are now shown abandoned places.
In conclusion, in the mean time we can see huge amount of changes in the area which reflects the environment and vibes are modifying time to time . overall its a positive aspect in a locality to transform and have access to modern surrounding and facilities .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the town square development, identifying key changes such as the conversion of the fish market to a supermarket and the replacement of the museum. However, the report lacks a clear overview or summary of the most significant trends, which is a requirement for Band 7. The description is somewhat disorganized, and some details are inaccurate or confusing, such as the claim that the library and fish restaurant were 'missing' from the 2020 layout when they are clearly present in the provided diagram. The response would benefit from a more structured approach that groups changes logically rather than listing them in a narrative style.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into three paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the awkward transition 'if we compare the following development'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the spatial changes described. The paragraphing is present but does not effectively separate the overview from the specific details. To improve, you should use clearer linking words to connect ideas and ensure that each paragraph has a distinct purpose, such as grouping the additions versus the removals.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'area' and 'place'. Some word choices are unnatural or incorrect, such as 'reflects the access of lots of things' and 'vibes are modifying'. While the student attempts to describe the changes, the lack of precise terminology for urban planning (e.g., 'redeveloped', 'demolished', 'replaced by', 'integrated') limits the score. Expanding your range of descriptive verbs and nouns related to maps and development would significantly improve your performance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with sentence structure, such as fragments and run-on sentences (e.g., '...in the right corner are at the same place from 2014 to 2020 changes but above the fountain...'). Punctuation is inconsistent, with missing capital letters at the start of sentences and misplaced commas. While there is an attempt at complex structures, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. Focusing on basic sentence construction and ensuring subject-verb agreement would help improve the accuracy of your writing.
