Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to describe the changes between 2014 and 2020, but it fails to provide a clear or accurate summary of the main features. The information is presented in a fragmented way, and several details are inaccurate or confusing, such as the mention of a 'fish market' in 2020 which is not supported by the prompt. The overview is weak and lacks a clear comparison of the overall transformation. The response struggles to highlight the key trends or significant developments, resulting in a report that does not fully address the requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a logical structure. Paragraphs are poorly defined, and the progression of ideas is disjointed. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link sentences and ideas effectively; instead, the text relies on repetitive phrasing and abrupt transitions. For example, the transition 'In ,2020 area is established' is grammatically awkward and does not help the flow of information. The overall arrangement of the report is confusing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the two time periods.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. The student uses basic terms like 'big' and 'things' repeatedly, which does not demonstrate the range required for a higher band score. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'graph chart' (the prompt shows a map/diagram) and 'covering seats'. The lack of precise terminology to describe urban development (e.g., 'infrastructure', 'renovated', 'transformed') significantly limits the quality of the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede clarity. There are persistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The graph chart show'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper punctuation, such as 'In 2014 there is fish market , historical museum , library , town Hal and fountain'. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. Complex structures are either absent or attempted with significant inaccuracies.
