Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 3.0

The response fails to address the task requirements. Instead of describing the physical changes in the town square (such as the addition of trees, seating, or road modifications), the text focuses on irrelevant commentary about 'the Internet' and 'revolutionary industriation'. The student does not report the main features or make comparisons between the 2014 and 2020 plans. The content is largely off-topic, as it describes the process of designing the diagram rather than the content of the diagram itself. Consequently, the response does not provide an accurate summary of the visual information provided.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks logical organization and progression. While there are paragraph breaks, the ideas within them are disconnected and repetitive. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and often inappropriate, such as the misuse of 'in addiction to' and 'further information form'. The lack of clear referencing makes it difficult for the reader to follow the writer's intent. The transition between ideas is disjointed, and the overall structure does not facilitate a clear summary of the visual data.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is limited and frequently misused. There are numerous spelling errors (e.g., 'surrendering' for surrounding, 'aera' for area, 'daigram' for diagram, 'industriation' for industrialization). The word choices are often inappropriate for an academic report, such as 'hardly' used to mean 'with difficulty' or 'intricately', and 'more better', which is grammatically incorrect. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey precise information about the changes in the town square, relying instead on repetitive and vague language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There is a lack of control over basic sentence structures, with many run-on sentences and fragments. Subject-verb agreement is inconsistent, and there are significant issues with word order and punctuation. Complex structures are attempted but are consistently inaccurate, such as 'the construction of the engineer was thinking simply'. The high frequency of errors throughout the text makes it difficult to read and obscures the intended meaning.
