Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have successfully identified the main features of the town square in 2014 and the proposed developments for 2020. You provided a clear overview and highlighted key changes, such as the new shopping area and the additions around the fountain. However, the response lacks a more detailed comparison of the layout. For instance, while you mention the northern and southern sides remained unchanged, you could have more explicitly contrasted the removal of the administration department with the addition of the new shopping area to better demonstrate the 'before and after' nature of the task. Overall, the information is accurate and covers the requirements well.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized into an introduction, a description of the 2014 layout, and a description of the 2020 changes. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate these distinct sections. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Meanwhile' and 'On the northern side', which help the reader follow the spatial description. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using more varied linking phrases. Referencing is generally clear, though the connection between the 2014 and 2020 descriptions could be more tightly integrated to improve the overall progression of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'facilities', 'developments', and 'administration department' correctly. There are some instances where word choice could be more precise, such as 'new one has more facilities than the older' (which is slightly informal) and 'at the place of administration was new developed shopping area' (which is grammatically awkward). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations related to urban planning, such as 'redevelopment', 'transformed', or 'designated area'. The current vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, particularly with article usage and sentence construction. For example, 'new one has more facilities' should be 'the new one has more facilities', and 'at the place of administration was new developed shopping area' is missing articles and correct word order. Additionally, some sentences are slightly run-on or lack necessary punctuation. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article placement will significantly improve your accuracy.
