Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have provided a clear and accurate summary of the main features shown in the maps. You successfully identified the key changes, such as the removal of the bandstand and grass area, and the conversion of buildings into retail spaces. The overview is well-constructed, providing a clear summary of the transformation. You have made effective comparisons between the 2014 and 2020 layouts, ensuring all parts of the prompt are addressed. The information is logically selected and presented, making the development of the area easy to follow for the reader.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is logically organized, with a clear progression from the introduction to the overview and then to the detailed body paragraphs. You use a variety of cohesive devices such as 'By 2020', 'In 2014', and 'moving further ahead' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly informal or awkward, such as 'By having cursory glance it is vivid that'. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the initial state from the planned developments. Referencing is generally clear, though some minor improvements in sentence-level flow would enhance the overall cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary appropriate for describing maps and urban development, such as 'modernization', 'pedestrian-friendly', 'perimeter', and 'designated'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'clothing restaurant' (which is likely a misinterpretation of the map legend) and the slightly unnatural phrasing 'By having cursory glance'. Despite these minor slips, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey precise meaning throughout the report, and you successfully avoid repetitive language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. There are some minor punctuation and grammatical errors, such as the unnecessary comma after 'provide about' and the awkward spacing in 'vivid that ,In 2014'. Additionally, the phrase 'By having cursory glance' is missing an article. However, these errors are infrequent and do not impede communication. The majority of your sentences are error-free, and you demonstrate good control over complex structures when describing the changes in the town square.
