IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows a town square and surrounding area in 2014 and the plans for development of the area to be completed by 2020. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram depicts a town square and surrounding area in 2014 and the plans for the future development of the area by 2020. Overall, layout will remained the same with some design and location changes in 2020 as compared to 2014.

In northern side of diagram town hall and fountain will remain same as of 2014 in 2020, while fish market will be converted into supermarket, on north west side area there is history museum in recent days, but later it will be changed to local artists gallery, while on south west side library will be removed in 2020 and the space is vacant with 3 portions. Moreover bandstand will be removed and 2 plant beds will be installed in center of area with some children's play ground area and other covered sitting areas on the opposite side. On eastern side in 2014, there is administrative building but in future it is planned to convert into 8 shops.

Furthermore, on southern side of the park, in 2014 there is fish restaurant and bar area also, but in prediction it will be drafted into bar and restaurants but it is unplanned yet.
