IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The diagram below shows a town square and surrounding area in 2014 and the plans for development of the area to be completed by 2020. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The diagrams outlines the plan for development of a town square and surrounding area by 2020.
Overall, grave changes are planned for the town square. A lot of amenities would be added, while some will be replaced, whereas others would completely be removed. Inspite of all the changes planned the centre fountain and town hall remains untouched in the development plan.
The fish market in the northwest would be replaced by supermarket. Furthermore, history museum in the west would be replaced with the local artists' gallery. However, the library is planned to be removed completely. Similarly, fish resturant and bar is removed in the development plan.
Subsequently, in the development plan the area of the bandstand is being utilized for plant beds. Children's playground is also being introduced for entertainment in the development plan for 2020. Covered seatings will also be introduced besides chidren's playground particulary for parents whose children are at the palyground. In the development plan the administrative buildings will also be replaced by shops to meet the increasing demands of the community.
