The diagram below shows a town square and surrounding area in 2014 and the plans for development of the area to be completed by 2020. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The diagrams illustrate the changes that took place in a town square between 2014 and 2020, including the proposed development of the surrounding area.
Overall, the town square underwent significant redevelopment during this period. Several existing facilities, including the fish market, library, fish restaurant, bar and bandstand, were removed or replaced. In contrast, a supermarket, local artists’ gallery, shops, plant beds, covered seating and a children’s playground were introduced.
In 2014, the fish market was located in the north-western part of the square, while the town hall stood in the north-east. A history museum was situated on the western side, with a library below it. In the centre of the square, there was a fountain and a bandstand. At the southern end, there was a fish restaurant and a bar. Administrative buildings occupied the eastern side.
By 2020, the fish market had been replaced by a supermarket, while the history museum had been converted into a local artists’ gallery. The town hall remained in its original position. The fountain also stayed in the centre, but the bandstand was removed and replaced by plant beds. A children’s playground and areas of covered seating were also added.
Furthermore, the library, fish restaurant and bar were removed. Several shops and commercial units were built around the southern and eastern parts of the square. Overall, the area became more commercial and recreational, with more facilities for visitors and local residents
