IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows a town square and surrounding area in 2014 and the plans for development of the area to be completed by 2020. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The daigram comapres the plan of a town square and surrounding area in the year 2014 with a proposed development plan to be completed by the year 2020.

Overall, the significant development is proposed for the plan, making the town sqaure more commercialised then it is at the present. Addition of shops are the key changes along with some increased facilities at the centre of a town square.

Administrative buildings which covers the larger section from townhall to bar in the norht east side of the plan will go under reconstruction to make way for new shops. Central area's is proposed with the redevelopment to accomodate greater number of visitors by installing covered seating. Furthermore, a children's playground with plant beds will be added at the upper section which previously was occupied by bandstand.History museum will be converted into local artist's gallery along with fish market turning into supermarket.

However, some features such as townhall and fountain inside remains unchanged. Fish resturant and bar on the southern part of the plan wil be redveloped by partioning the larger area into smaller sections.
