Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by identifying the main changes between 2014 and 2020, such as the replacement of the fish market with a supermarket and the addition of the children's playground. However, certain areas are treated more fully than others, and some details are slightly inaccurate or confusing, such as claiming that the restaurants move outside the town. An overview is attempted at the beginning, but it lacks a clear summary of the most striking spatial transformations, placing the response at a level where relevant ideas are presented yet some remain under-developed or unclear.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The text displays a coherent overall arrangement with a recognizable progression from an introductory overview into body paragraphs detailing specific structural changes. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, the transition phrases linking the locations are repetitive and occasionally confusing, as seen in expressions like 'In 2013, in the first entrance'. Furthermore, paragraphing could be structured more logically to group northern and southern developments distinctly, which affects the overall flow of information.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using functional terms like 'supermarket', 'fountain', 'library', and 'administrative buildings'. There are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'somr', 'musuem', and 'builings', alongside awkward phrasing like 'local art and gallery' instead of 'local artists' gallery'. While these errors do not seriously impede communication, they reflect an inconsistent control of less common vocabulary and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response utilizes a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting comparative and future structures such as 'which will be replaced by supermarket'. There are several grammatical errors regarding articles ('by supermarket', 'Children'play ground'), verb forms ('Town hall id present', 'Fountain eill ve'), and prepositions. However, these errors are relatively sparse and rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the general comparison between the two map layouts.
