Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response covers some main features of the maps, such as the replacement of the fish market with a supermarket and the addition of a children's playground, noting that the town hall and fountain remain unchanged. However, the overview is weak, and the length requirement is not met as the essay is under the 150-word minimum. Furthermore, some details are slightly inaccurate or vague, such as stating that an entirely new way to the square is built, and several ideas remain underdeveloped. To improve, you should write at least 150 words and ensure a clear, well-supported overview of all key spatial changes.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The essay lacks a clear overall progression and logical paragraph structure. Sentences are clumped together without standard paragraphing conventions, and spacing is irregular. Cohesive devices are very basic or missing entirely, leading to a disjointed flow where ideas feel repetitive, such as the redundant concluding sentences that mirror points already made. To move to a higher band, group your ideas into distinct paragraphs (such as an introduction, overview, and body paragraphs) and use a wider variety of accurate cohesive links to guide the reader smoothly between comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The lexical range is limited, with noticeable spelling and word choice errors that detract from the overall quality. Examples include misspelling 'admistrative' instead of administrative, 'cuty' instead of city, and 'galary' instead of gallery, along with awkward phrasing like 'local artist galary'. Vocabulary is largely repetitive and relies on basic terms. To achieve a higher score, you should expand your range of vocabulary by using precise, topic-specific terms related to maps and urban planning, while carefully checking your spelling and word formation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The range of grammatical structures is limited, relying mostly on simple sentences, and attempts at complex structures often contain errors. There are frequent punctuation and capitalization mistakes, such as spacing errors around commas and periods (e.g., 'Overall ,it shows' and missing capital letters or incorrect apostrophes like 'it's surrounding'). Article use is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on reducing basic structural and punctuation errors, and practice incorporating a wider variety of accurate complex sentence forms.
