Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response makes an attempt to summarise the maps, identifying some key features such as the fish market, town hall, fountain, and the introduction of a supermarket and children's playground. However, the information is only partially addressed. Some features are described vaguely or inaccurately, such as referring to administrative buildings as a giant advertisement building and mentioning plants beds for good feelings. Furthermore, the comparison between the two years is superficial and limited, failing to provide a fully developed overview or report all significant spatial changes across the area. The position and development of ideas remain rather basic and limited.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The text shows some organisation with paragraph breaks separating the introduction, body details, and a conclusion. However, there is no clear overall progression, and the logical flow is frequently disrupted by abrupt transitions and a lack of cohesive devices. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly when jumping between locations on the map without clear spatial markers. While basic linking words like 'on the other hand' and 'to conclude that' are attempted, cohesive devices are overall inadequate and mechanical, giving the response a disjointed feel that hinders readability.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is limited and basic, with noticeable errors that cause some difficulty for the reader. The student relies on repetitive words and simple descriptors, while attempts at less common vocabulary result in awkward phrasing and incorrect word forms, such as 'plant beds' instead of 'plant beds', 'distinguish' instead of 'differences', and 'art gellery'. Spelling mistakes and inaccurate word choices appear frequently throughout the text, constraining the range of vocabulary and impeding smooth communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical structures are very limited, relying primarily on simple sentences with frequent attempts at complex forms that are often faulty. There are persistent errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, articles, and punctuation, such as missing capitalisation and incorrect spacing after periods. Examples include 'this diagram shows two town which are in square forrm', 'its become modren', and 'in 2014 there was no children playground and in 2020 has children playground'. These frequent errors place a heavy burden on the reader and restrict the range of accurate structures.
