Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several major changes, including the supermarket replacing the fish market, shops replacing the administrative buildings, the gallery replacing the history museum, and the fountain and town hall remaining. This gives the reader a basic sense of the redevelopment. However, the overview is not consistently accurate: the bandstand is replaced by a children’s playground, not plant beds, which are placed in the northern part of the square. The response also says the library will be removed, although the plan does not show this, and it omits the bars and restaurants replacing the southern buildings. Several features are listed without clear locations or comparison. To strengthen the summary, select the main changes accurately and describe the overall pattern of redevelopment more clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has an opening, a paragraph describing changes, and a final paragraph that attempts to summarise them. Some links, such as “In addition,” help connect ideas. However, the information does not progress clearly: the final paragraph repeats many changes already listed rather than adding a distinct comparison or organising the details by area. The long middle paragraph combines numerous features in a sequence, with little grouping, and punctuation is missing in “shops.Bandstand.” This makes the relationships between changes harder to follow. Use a concise overview followed by logically grouped details—for example, changes around the square’s perimeter and changes within the central area—and avoid repeating the same list.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for describing a plan, including “replaced,” “introduced,” “constructed,” and “central fountain.” These terms communicate several changes, but the range is limited and some expressions are imprecise or incorrectly formed. “Numerous things” is vague, while “covering seating” does not accurately name the feature; “covered seating” is the appropriate phrase. There are also spelling errors in “inroduce” and “pkant,” and “super market” should be written as one word. Repeated use of “replace” and “removed” makes the description less varied. Build a more precise set of map vocabulary, such as “converted into,” “retained,” “located to the east of,” and “perimeter buildings,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and some basic structures are understandable, such as “Central fountain and north-east town hall would still be present in the future.” However, errors in verb forms, articles, and sentence construction are frequent enough to make parts awkward. For example, “Historical museum would going to be replaced” combines incompatible future forms; use “The history museum will be replaced.” “Bandstand located on the east side” needs a finite verb, and “There would be an introduction” is an awkward construction. The response also shifts between “would” and “is going to” without a clear pattern. Practise accurate future forms and complete clauses, then use a few controlled complex sentences to compare what remains with what changes.
