Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the two years and report several relevant changes, including the supermarket replacing the fish market, the fountain remaining, and shops replacing the administrative buildings. However, the response covers the plan only partially: it omits important developments such as the artists’ gallery, plant beds, covered seating, playground, and the reorganisation of the southern buildings. The claim that the fish restaurant and bar appear as “blank space” is not supported by the plan, which labels these areas as bars and restaurants. The overview is also unclear and repeats itself, and “new technology” is inaccurate. The response is 140 words, below the required 150; use the extra space to describe the main changes more fully and accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to descriptions of 2014 and 2020. This gives the reader some sense of the timeline, and phrases such as “By 2020” help signal a change of year. However, progression is limited because the descriptions are brief and leave several features unconnected. The overview is repeated at the end, while transitions such as “as it is” are unclear and do not show the intended relationship between locations. Capitalisation and spacing problems also interrupt the flow. Group the changes by area or by what remains versus what is replaced, and use clear links such as “In contrast” or “Meanwhile” to guide the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “replaced,” “located,” “fountain,” and “administrative buildings,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or imprecise. “Significant recover” does not express the intended idea of redevelopment, and “new technology” is not an appropriate description of the new facilities. “Available” is also vague when describing buildings in the square, while “blank space” misrepresents the bars and restaurants shown in 2020. Spelling errors such as “exiting” and “facilites,” together with inconsistent capitalisation, reduce clarity. Aim for precise terms for map changes and check spelling before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Most sentences use simple structures, and the reader can understand several basic comparisons, such as the fountain remaining and the administrative buildings being replaced. However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. For example, “the town centre significant recover” lacks a correctly formed verb, and “Still the town hall and fountain in same location” is not a complete sentence. There are also problems with articles and sentence construction in “a fish market situated in upper left side” and “In the Centre area in round shape fountain and bandstand situated.” Use complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and practise accurate past-tense forms when describing the 2014 map and planned changes.
