Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several relevant changes, including the central fountain remaining, the fish market becoming a supermarket, the administrative buildings being replaced by shops, and the southern businesses becoming bars and restaurants. However, the response only partially summarises the plans: it does not clearly present the overall shift from commercial buildings around the square to new leisure and public facilities, and some details are inaccurate or unclear. For example, the fountain is not surrounded by plant beds; the beds are in the northern part, while covered seating and a playground are nearby. The western changes are also imprecise: the gallery replaces the history museum, while the library is not described as changing. A clearer overview and more accurate selection of key features would strengthen the report.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to descriptions of the centre, southern edge, west and north. This gives the reader some sense of how the information is organised. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow, and several linking expressions are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “Meanwhile” and “After that.” References such as “that place” and “thus place” do not always make clear which location or feature is meant. The account also jumps between areas without consistently comparing 2014 with 2020. Organise the body by location or by major changes, and use clear comparisons such as “whereas” and “by 2020” to guide the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “fountain,” “bandstand,” “playground,” “plant beds” and “administrative buildings,” so the reader can recognise many of the map features. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations make the meaning unclear. Phrases such as “crystal lucid,” “the maps show development occur” and “especially modified the restaurant” are not natural ways to describe a plan. There is also repetition of general words such as “place” and “modified,” and “cultivate” does not accurately describe the supermarket’s appearance. Build a more precise set of verbs for map changes, such as “replace,” “remain,” “convert” and “be redeveloped as,” and check that each phrase fits its context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts some longer sentence forms and uses past and future-related time references, but control is inconsistent. Many sentences contain errors in clause structure, verb forms, articles and punctuation, which sometimes make relationships between features hard to understand. For example, “In the town, in centre part which was located fountain” lacks a complete grammatical structure, while “The south side located fish restaurant and bar in 2014. which was changed by bars and restaurant” has an incomplete follow-up clause and unclear tense. “The town hall not changed” also needs an auxiliary verb. Practise writing complete subject–verb sentences first, then combine them with accurate relative clauses and comparison structures. Check articles, verb agreement and sentence boundaries during editing.
