Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the two time periods and report several relevant changes, including the fish market becoming a supermarket, the town hall remaining, and the history museum becoming a local artists’ gallery. However, the overview is unclear (“building modaret 2020”), and important features are either omitted or inaccurately described: the fountain remains central, while the plant beds are north of it, and the playground is east of it. The claim that the library is removed is not clearly supported by the plan, and the locations of the new seating and commercial units need more precise reporting. The response is also 25 words below the 150-word minimum; the 21 words copied from the task prompt do not count. Develop a clear overview and describe the main changes accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response by time period: the first paragraph refers to 2014, and “Meanwhile, in 2020” introduces the planned changes. This gives the reader some sense of sequence. However, the opening overview is difficult to follow, and the description within each period jumps between locations and buildings without a clear route around the square. Connections such as “That other building” and “afer the change” do not make the relationships between features clear. Use separate, purposeful paragraphs for the overview and the two sets of details, and group features by location—for example, northern, central and southern areas. Clearer linking and reference would make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response attempts relevant map vocabulary, including “centre,” “fish market,” “administrative buildings,” “covered seating” and “children’s playground.” These terms show awareness of the topic, but the usable range is limited and many spelling or word-choice errors make the description hard to understand, such as “illusteration,” “bandstant,” “convalt” and “fountaian.” Some phrases are also imprecise, including “in the equal side” and “two room cover seating.” Choose standard map-description language and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a feature as being “on the eastern side” or say that one building “was replaced by” another. More accurate collocations would help communicate the changes without requiring the reader to guess.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The response makes a limited attempt to form sentences and use time references, but grammatical control is weak and errors frequently obscure meaning. The opening, “The illusteration give infromation,” lacks correct subject–verb agreement and a complete, well-formed expression. Later, fragments such as “twom hall in the same 2020” and “History museum the change the name” do not establish clear relationships between subjects and actions. Tense and sentence structure are also inconsistent when describing the plans. Practise building complete sentences with a subject, verb and clear object, such as “The fish market will be replaced by a supermarket.” Then check agreement, articles, and punctuation, especially where several changes are listed.
