Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main purpose of the plans and note several important changes, including the supermarket replacing the fish market, the removal of the administrative buildings, and new seating and a playground. However, the report is incomplete and some details are inaccurate or unclear: the library and fish restaurant are not described as removed, and the gallery replaces the history museum rather than being described as a definite intention. The overview also misses key changes, such as shops on the eastern side and bars and restaurants around the southern perimeter. At 127 words, the response is 23 words below the required minimum. Add a fuller comparison of both maps and report the locations and changes precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic structure, with an opening, an overview, and a paragraph about the 2014-to-2020 changes. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Additionally,” and “However” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is limited: the final paragraph moves between the museum, removed facilities, the supermarket, and central additions without a clear sequence or consistent comparison. “However” does not introduce a clear contrast, and “Another thing” is informal and repetitive. Organise the details by area or by what remains, is replaced, and is newly added. Clearer paragraph development and more precise referencing would make the comparison easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a redevelopment, including “replace,” “administrative buildings,” “fountain,” and “playground.” However, the range is limited, and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce clarity: “surronding,” “childern,” “figh market,” “galley,” and “playgrounf.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “covering seats” and “develop a main supermarket.” Use accurate map vocabulary and collocations, for example “covered seating,” “the supermarket will replace the fish market,” and “the area will be redeveloped.” Careful proofreading of spelling and choosing precise terms for each facility would improve the description.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts a few complex forms, including “which is planned and expected to be complete developed” and “instead of … a supermarket will be developed,” but these constructions are often faulty. Errors in verb forms and sentence structure occur frequently: “is planned and expected to be complete developed” should be “is planned to be completed,” while “a history museum which is intended to replace” needs a passive form such as “which is intended to be replaced.” There are also problems with articles, plurals, and punctuation, as in “removed few places” and the space before the comma in “However ,”. Use simpler, accurate sentences first, then add controlled comparisons with “while” or “whereas.”
