Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main purpose of the plans and give a useful overview that the square is being redesigned for visitors, then report several key changes accurately: the fish market becomes a supermarket, the history museum becomes an artists’ gallery, and administrative buildings are replaced by shops. This covers the task well, with relevant comparisons between the two dates. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: “plants bed were placed after the fountain” mislocates the two plant beds, which are in the northern part of the square, while covered seating is not described as surrounding the bars and restaurants. The library’s fate and the fountain’s unchanged central position could also be reported more clearly. More precise coverage of these features would make the account more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the changes. The sequence from the northern buildings to the central and southern areas is generally easy to follow, and phrases such as “in 2014” and “in the future plan” help distinguish the time periods. However, the overview repeats the general idea of change in “significant changes” and “Many changes,” rather than summarising the main categories of development. Some references are also difficult to follow: “after the fountain” and “on the front of the shops” do not clearly identify locations. Grouping changes by area and using more precise links between old and new features would improve progression and cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of vocabulary for describing a map, including “replaced,” “transformed,” “converted,” and “surrounding area.” These choices help communicate the broad redevelopment, and the meaning is generally clear. Some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, however, such as “blueprints for growth,” “visitors comfort,” and “plants bed.” “Got surrounded with covered seating” also does not accurately express the relationship shown on the plan. There is some repetition of “future plan” and “changes,” which limits flexibility. Aim for precise map language and natural collocations, for example, describe facilities as being “located,” “retained,” or “replaced,” and use “redevelopment” rather than “growth” for changes to the square.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including relative clauses such as “which was replaced by a supermarket” and “that bandstand was then removed.” Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “visitors comfort and entertainment was given priority” has a possessive and agreement problem, while “The space of administrative buildings were converted” has a mismatch between the singular subject “space” and the plural verb. The sentence beginning “A fountain was present…” also joins two independent clauses with a comma. Review subject–verb agreement, possessives, and punctuation when combining clauses. More consistently accurate sentence patterns would strengthen the description without requiring more complicated structures.
