Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two years and mention several relevant changes, including the supermarket, artists’ gallery, playground, plant beds and new shops. You also give a broad comparison by saying the area was “more developed” in 2020. However, the response only partially summarises the plans: it does not clearly explain what remained unchanged, such as the town hall and central fountain, or describe the main changes in a systematic way. Some details are inaccurate or unclear—for example, the fountain was not covered, and the seating was placed on both sides of it. A clearer overview of the major redevelopment, followed by accurate comparisons of the key locations, would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the two years, then describes some changes and ends with a general comparison. This gives the reader a broad sense of the topic. However, the ideas are crowded into two long paragraphs with little clear organisation, and the second paragraph moves rapidly between features without a consistent route around the square. Linking phrases such as “more over” do not clarify how the details relate, while repeated use of “also” makes the progression mechanical. Some references, including “at the back” and “at the right,” are difficult to interpret. Group the information into a brief overview and a paragraph comparing locations, using clear directional references and transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a plan, including “supermarket,” “local artist gallery,” “children’s playground,” “covered seating,” and “shops.” These choices show an attempt to report specific features. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “plathera of new places take place,” “manufactured” for buildings or facilities, and “fountain was covered with ample of things.” Spelling errors, including “disgram,” “restraunt,” and “childrens,” are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning harder to follow. Use precise map vocabulary such as “replaced,” “was converted into,” “located to the east of,” and “remained unchanged,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example with “as we can see” and “more over,” but the response relies heavily on loosely joined clauses. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are often missing, making relationships between ideas difficult to follow. There are frequent problems with verb forms and sentence construction, as in “if i compete in both years everything is changed” and “many shops were manufactured.” Articles and plurals are also inconsistently controlled, and the opening sentence does not form a clear, accurate comparison. These errors sometimes impede communication. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine related details with accurate past and future forms and clear punctuation.
