Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the broad direction of change: the square is intended to become more commercial and gain visitor facilities, and you mention the conversion of the administrative buildings and history museum. However, the response only partially reports the map. It omits several key changes, including the supermarket replacing the fish market, the bandstand becoming a playground, and the new covered seating and plant beds’ locations. The statement that the bar and fish restaurant will “further extend” is not clearly supported; the plan shows multiple bars and restaurants around the southern and south-western perimeter. The overview is relevant but general, and the individual features are not sufficiently described or compared. The response is also 43 words below the required minimum, limiting the detail you can include. Add a fuller overview and report the main changes by location.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic, sensible structure: an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph describing selected changes. This helps the reader follow the general topic. However, the progression is limited because the final paragraph lists changes without a clear spatial order or grouping, and it ends before covering many important features. Linking is also sparse: “Moreover” is the main connector, while relationships between the changes are mostly left implicit. Organise the details by area—for example, the northern buildings, the central square, and the southern and eastern edges—and use clear comparisons such as “while” or “whereas.” This would create a more complete progression and make the map changes easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “town square,” “administrative buildings,” “fountain,” “covered seating,” and “children’s playground,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, the range is limited, with repeated reliance on broad phrases such as “area” and “developments.” Some word choices are imprecise or awkward: “further extend” does not clearly describe the planned division of the southern buildings into several units, and “different attractions for the visitors” is vague. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “differnt,” “buidlings,” and “lical,” which reduce accuracy. Use precise verbs such as “replace,” “convert,” and “be divided into,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You produce several understandable sentences and attempt a complex construction in “The area is expected to become more commercial and busy … including playground, bars and restaurants and shops.” However, the range is narrow overall, with most information expressed through short statements or repeated passive forms such as “will change” and “will convert.” Some sentence patterns are awkward or incomplete: “a covered seating along with plant beds and children’s playground is planned to be there” does not form a natural, well-controlled construction. Articles and number also need attention in phrases such as “including playground” and “a covered seating.” Practise combining map details into accurate comparisons, while checking singular and plural forms and article use. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points.
