Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several important changes, including the fish market becoming a supermarket, the history museum becoming a local artists’ gallery, and the administrative buildings being replaced by shops. You also note that the town hall and fountain remain. However, the response gives no clear overview of the main pattern of redevelopment, and some locations are misreported: the library is west of the square, not to the right of the museum, while the fish market is north-west, not to its left. The 2020 description also confuses the central features: the fountain remains, but the playground is east of it, and the plant beds are in the north. Select the main changes accurately and summarise them before adding location details.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response follows a basic time sequence, first describing 2014 and then 2020, so the reader can recognise the comparison being attempted. However, the information is not grouped into clear paragraphs, and the first section moves from the museum to the library, market, town hall, fountain, and southern buildings without a consistent spatial route. Repeated links such as “And” and “With” make the account feel list-like, while phrases such as “This is in 2014 map” interrupt the progression. The final paragraph repeats that the area changed without adding a clear summary. Use a short overview followed by organised descriptions of the northern/western and central/southern features, with more precise linking.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “centre,” “surroundings,” “converted into,” and “remains,” which helps communicate the broad comparison. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “development starts from 2014,” “fish market occured,” and “the whole shape changed.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “chrart,” “developmment,” and “finalise,” which reduce clarity. Aim for precise terms used in map descriptions, such as “was replaced by,” “was located,” “perimeter,” and “redeveloped.” Check spelling carefully and avoid vague phrases like “big difference” when you can name the specific change.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to connect ideas in longer sentences, but control is inconsistent and the range of sentence structures is limited. Errors in verb forms and tense appear in phrases such as “development starts from 2014” and “When developmment stared,” while “the town hall still remain same” lacks correct agreement and article use. Several sentences run together, for example the description beginning “in 2014 very first,” with commas used where full stops are needed. Capitalisation is also inconsistent at sentence beginnings. These errors sometimes make relationships between features difficult to follow. Practise accurate past-tense descriptions and simple comparison structures, then combine them with carefully punctuated complex sentences.
