Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the broad purpose of the plans and give a basic overview, noting that the fountain and town hall remain while several uses change. You also report the supermarket replacing the fish market and shops replacing the eastern administrative buildings. However, important changes are omitted, including the gallery, plant beds, covered seating, playground, and the conversion of the southern buildings into bars and restaurants. Some locations are inaccurate or unclear: the town hall is described as being “just below” the administrative building, although it is in the north-eastern corner, and the library and museum are not clearly located. The final claim that the space will be “more modern and attractive” is an unsupported interpretation. Select and compare more of the main planned features accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph about 2014, and a paragraph about 2020, followed by a conclusion. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through the information. However, progression is weakened by the short and incomplete account of the 2020 plan, and the conclusion repeats the point about shops rather than adding a useful comparison. Some linking is mechanical or unclear, particularly “While few of them will be same” and “Opposite to the administrative building,” which does not connect smoothly to the preceding sentence. Grouping the changes by area—for example, northern buildings, central square, and southern/eastern perimeter—would make comparisons easier to follow and improve cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a map, including “layout,” “replaced,” “L shape,” and “eastern side,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice or spelling problems reduce precision: “redvelopment” is misspelled, “town area” is vague for the square, and “plot” is repeated where “square” or “site” would be more natural. “Local artist gallery” does not accurately reproduce the label “local artists’ gallery,” while “redeveloped” is used imprecisely to mean that features remain unchanged. Aim for accurate map vocabulary and consistent collocations, such as “the square underwent redevelopment” and “the fountain remained in the centre.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the reader can usually understand the main points. However, errors are frequent enough to limit control. The opening is a fragment: “In 2014 and the proposed changes that were planned to be completed in 2020.” The overview also has faulty sentence structure in “While few of them will be same,” and the past-tense description shifts awkwardly into future forms. Articles, agreement, and prepositions need attention, as in “in square shape,” “a L shape building,” and “below to it.” Punctuation is also inconsistent, including the full stop after “building” in the middle of a sentence. Practise complete sentences and maintain consistent tense when comparing the existing map with the future plan.
