Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important changes, including the replacement of the fish market by a supermarket, the unchanged town hall and fountain, and the addition of a playground and covered seating. However, the overview is vague: “few changes” understates the substantial redevelopment, and the response does not clearly summarise the overall shift from market and administrative uses to commercial and recreational facilities. Some details are inaccurate or unclear. The shops replace the administrative buildings on the eastern side, not the west; the gallery replaces the history museum, while the library is removed from the western side. The plant beds are not where the bandstand stood. To strengthen the report, describe these locations accurately and include the conversion of the southern buildings into bars and restaurants.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing changes. This gives the reader a basic route through the information, and phrases such as “Overall” and “Turning towards” signal progression. However, the organisation is not consistently clear because several changes are grouped by direction without a reliable spatial sequence. For example, the paragraph beginning “To commence with” moves from the west to the north and then to the east, while the next paragraph mixes central features with perimeter buildings. Some linking words also create confusing relationships, particularly “However” before features said to remain unchanged. Grouping the northern, western, eastern, and southern changes more systematically, and using clearer references to the map, would make the progression easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “converted into,” “unchanged,” “constructed,” and “removed,” and the reader can generally understand the intended comparisons. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing plans. “The maps enumerates a square town” does not clearly express what the maps show, and “changes for development of the place to be fulfilled” is awkward. “Build” is also used where “built” or “constructed” is needed, while “at the place of” is repeated instead of using more precise expressions such as “replaced” or “on the site of.” Spelling errors such as “Wheras,” “childern,” and “thier” further reduce control. Aim for precise location and change vocabulary, and check spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses linked with “while” and “that,” and the main message is usually understandable. However, some errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation remain. For example, “The rendered maps enumerates” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “shops are build” and “playground is build” use the wrong verb form. The opening phrase “changes for development of the place to be fulfilled” is also structurally awkward. Several sentences run together without appropriate spacing or punctuation, as in “supermarket ,while town hall is unchanged.Wheras.” Practise accurate passive constructions for planned changes, and proofread sentence boundaries, articles, and agreement while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
