Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response gives a clear overview of the main planned changes, including the replacement of the fish market and history museum, the conversion of the eastern administrative buildings into shops, and the addition of seating and a playground. It also correctly notes that the town hall and central fountain remain. These details address the task and show a sound grasp of the overall transformation. However, some points are inaccurate or imprecise: the plant beds are in the northern part of the square, not the central area, and the bars and restaurants occupy the south-western and southern perimeter rather than simply including the library area. The library’s fate is not clearly reported, and the bandstand’s removal could be linked more explicitly to the playground. More precise spatial reporting would strengthen the account.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction and overview are followed by two paragraphs describing changes. The main features are generally grouped sensibly, and transitions such as “To commence” and “Moreover” help signal progression. However, the organisation within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. For example, “Just below” and “then further categorising it” do not make the locations or sequence of changes clear, while the final paragraph shifts between unchanged features and new additions without a fully controlled order. Some linking phrases also feel mechanical or are used where a direct connection is unclear. Grouping the changes by location—north, centre, and perimeter—and using clearer references would make the progression easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses relevant map vocabulary, including “replaced,” “divided,” “central,” “right section,” and “respective places,” and it attempts to describe both existing and planned features. However, spelling errors are frequent, including “developement,” “implmented,” “restraurents,” and “mesuem,” which detract from accuracy. Several word choices or collocations are also unsuitable: “administrative building will be demormed” does not clearly express that it will be replaced or converted, and “covering seats” is not a natural description of covered seating. “Enhanced” is also vague for describing the addition of facilities. Aim for accurate spelling and use precise planning vocabulary, such as “converted into,” “located,” and “covered seating,” to make the descriptions clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
There is an attempt to use a mixture of sentence forms, including longer sentences with contrast and relative information, as in “whereas two covering seats in just opposite direction…”. The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. For example, “Overall, administrative building will be demormed” lacks an article and has an unclear verb construction; “Townhall on the top and fountain in the center remains” has subject–verb agreement problems; and “the central part of the town has enhcned” uses an incorrect verb form. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, particularly in the long final sentence. Practise accurate articles, plural agreement, and consistent future forms when describing planned changes, while breaking complex descriptions into controlled sentences.
