Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main change from the fish market to a supermarket and correctly note that the town hall and central fountain remain. You also mention the gallery, playground, plant beds and seating, so the response covers several important developments. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: there was only one fish market, not “two,” and the library is not shown as becoming shops; it is omitted from the 2020 plan. The eastern shops replace the administrative buildings, while bars and restaurants occupy the southern and south-western perimeter. Your overview gives a useful general picture, but the changes around the square are not described precisely or fully, and the comparison of the bandstand’s replacement is confused. More accurate, clearly selected details would strengthen the report.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “Overall” and “On the other hand” signal relationships between ideas. However, the progression is not consistently logical: the second detail paragraph moves from the library to the administrative buildings and then back to the centre, while the first mixes locations and changes. Some linking phrases are inaccurate or do not express a clear contrast, particularly “On the other hand.” References such as “it” in “it became developed” are also unclear. Grouping the information by area—for example, northern and western changes, then central and southern changes—would make the comparisons easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “replaced,” “remained,” “fountain,” “playground” and “seating area,” which helps communicate the broad changes. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning difficult to interpret. For example, “surrounded area,” “new open,” and “measured” do not describe the map task naturally, while “developed into” is repeatedly used where “was converted into” or “was replaced by” would be clearer. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “gallary,” “childent's” and “buidings.” Aim for precise terms for locations and changes, and check spelling of key labels before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a comparison with “whereas” and a clause beginning “while.” However, many sentences contain errors in articles, verb forms, agreement and sentence construction. Examples include “the map of town square,” “history museum was change,” and “The administrative buidings was established.” The sentence beginning “In the 2014” also has an unnecessary article, and the final sentence joins ideas in a way that obscures the relationship between the original and planned features. These errors can make some details hard to understand. Practise accurate past-tense passive forms such as “was replaced by,” and use shorter, complete sentences when describing each change.
