Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the two time points and mention several relevant changes, including the supermarket, plant beds, playground, covered seating and gallery. However, the main features are not clearly summarised: the central fountain remains, the town hall is retained, and the administrative buildings are replaced by shops, but these comparisons are not explained accurately or systematically. The overview that “development ... is increased” is too vague, and claims about “students,” “youngers” and older people using facilities are not shown in the plan. To strengthen the response, describe the key replacements and additions by location, and distinguish what stays unchanged from what is redeveloped. The response meets the stated length requirement; 18 words copied from the task prompt were excluded from the count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response, moving from an overview to details about 2014 and then 2020. Time markers such as “In 2014” and “In 2020” help the reader follow the comparison. However, the progression is difficult to track because several ideas are crowded into long, loosely connected sentences, and the paragraphing does not clearly separate the overview from the two plans. Linking words such as “Whereas” and “while” are not always used to show a clear relationship between ideas. For example, the sentence beginning “Looking at the details” combines a list of buildings with an unclear statement about access. Use distinct paragraphs and group changes by area or by what remains and what is replaced.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response attempts some task-relevant vocabulary, including “surrounding area,” “plant beds,” “covered seating” and “local artists gallery.” These terms show awareness of the map’s features. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms make the meaning unclear, such as “most of the halls and requirment is lowest in the building” and “development is increased place.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “squre,” “sourounding,” “completeted” and “galery.” Avoid vague repeated words such as “development” and “facilities”; use precise terms for map changes, such as “replaced,” “retained,” “converted” and “added.” Check spelling and use natural collocations when describing locations and changes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to use more than simple statements, including contrast structures with “Whereas” and “while,” and you use time references to distinguish the plans. However, sentence structures are often faulty, and errors frequently make relationships between ideas hard to understand. For example, “in 2014 town squre and surrounding area has to fish market” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “this year more facilities development” is missing a suitable verb and article. Tense and agreement are also inconsistent, as in “area has” and “development ... to be completed.” Punctuation and capitalisation are uneven, with unnecessary spaces before commas and capital letters after commas. Practise clear subject–verb sentences first, then add accurate clauses to compare features.
