Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two dates and report several relevant changes, including the replacement of the fish market by a supermarket and the history museum by an artists’ gallery. You also mention the central fountain and some original buildings. However, the response only partially covers the plans: it omits major 2020 features such as the playground, covered seating, plant beds, and the conversion of the eastern and southern buildings into shops and food venues. The overview names some additions but does not summarise the overall transformation clearly, and the final paragraph stops after only two changes. The response is also 9 words below the required minimum. Develop the comparison with the most significant changes and complete the account of the 2020 layout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the two plans. This gives the reader a basic route through the information, and phrases such as “Overall” and “In the 2020 plan” help signal the stages. However, the progression is incomplete because the final paragraph ends after describing only two replacements, leaving the planned layout unexplained. Some information is also presented as a list rather than grouped into clear comparisons, and the overview repeats the idea of changes without previewing the main categories of change. Use the final paragraph to organise the new features by location or type, and connect them to the 2014 layout for clearer progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant map vocabulary, including “layout,” “central fountain,” “western side,” “southern area,” and “replaced,” so the main locations and changes are generally understandable. There is some useful variation in describing the buildings and facilities. However, the range is limited, with repeated general wording such as “changes” and “area,” and several spelling or word-form errors are noticeable: “facilitiues,” “replavced,” and “museums” where the singular “museum” is intended. “Play area for children” is understandable but less concise than “children’s playground.” Aim for accurate spelling and more precise terms for the planned features, such as “converted into,” “retained,” and “covered seating,” while avoiding repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You produce several clear simple sentences, and the opening sentence accurately introduces the comparison. There is also an attempt at a more complex overview sentence using “with,” which shows some range. However, grammatical control is uneven. Articles are missing in phrases such as “central fountain” and “in southern area,” and the sentence “Administrative block was located in the eastern part” needs an article and a completed location phrase. Punctuation and spacing also need attention: there is no space after “removed.” or “north.”, and the 2014 paragraph ends without a full stop. Use a wider mix of accurately controlled sentence patterns, and check articles, sentence endings, and punctuation during revision.
