Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify several major changes accurately: the fish market becomes a supermarket, the town hall remains, the history museum is replaced by a local artists’ gallery, and the central fountain is retained. You also note the introduction of shops and bars/restaurants, giving the reader a relevant account of the redevelopment. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the plant beds do not replace the bandstand; they are in the northern part of the square, while the playground occupies the former bandstand area. The library is not simply demolished without replacement, and the two covered seating areas are not clearly described. A more precise overview of the main changes, followed by accurate location details, would make the report more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a broadly understandable sequence: it introduces the redevelopment, describes changes to buildings, and then mentions new recreational features. Linking expressions such as “Along this” and “One noticeable change” help connect some points. However, the ideas are compressed into one paragraph, and the progression between locations and types of change is not always clear. For example, the sentence beginning “One noticeable change” combines several demolitions and replacements without specifying which new facilities occupy each area. The final sentence also links plant beds to the bandstand inaccurately, weakening the flow. Organise the report into a short overview and separate paragraphs for buildings and open-space features, using clear location references.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “north side,” “center position,” “replaced,” and “introduced,” so the main topic is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more descriptive language, such as “notable change” and “newly designed map.” However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural word combinations are noticeable, including “clearely,” “resturant,” “complitely,” and “fun area.” Phrases such as “should be happened” and “covered seated area” also show limited control of appropriate vocabulary and collocation. Use standard map-report terms consistently, such as “located,” “remained,” “was converted into,” and “covered seating,” and check spelling carefully to make the description easier to follow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, for example, “the fountain will retain its center position” and the sentence describing the fish market and town hall. This gives the response some structural variety, but errors in verb forms, articles, and sentence construction are frequent enough to make several passages awkward. Examples include “Given map showcase,” “that should be happened,” and “the fish market … replaced by supermarket,” where the subject, verb form, or article is missing or incorrect. The sentence beginning “In previous map” also contains an unclear clause structure. Practise forming accurate passive constructions (“is replaced by”) and use complete, controlled sentences before adding longer clauses. Correct punctuation and sentence boundaries would further improve clarity.
