Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several important changes, including the fish market becoming a supermarket, the town hall remaining, the central fountain staying, and new covered seating and a playground. These details show a relevant understanding of the plans. However, the account is only partial and some changes are unclear or inaccurate: the history museum becomes a local artists’ gallery, rather than both the museum and library being shifted, and the bandstand is replaced by the playground, not plant beds. The plant beds are in the northern part of the square. You also do not clearly describe the major redevelopment of the eastern buildings into shops or the southern and south-western buildings into bars and restaurants. A concise overview of the main changes, followed by accurate location details, would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response includes a sequence of relevant observations, and linking expressions such as “while,” “moreover” and “in 2020” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, the information is not arranged into clear paragraphs or a consistent progression. The opening moves between the museum and library, then the northern buildings, and later returns to the museum and library, so some points are repeated. Several sentences run together, particularly the final section, making it difficult to see which features are being compared. Organise the report into an introduction and overview, then group changes by location or by what remains and what is redeveloped. Use fewer, more precise linking phrases and make each sentence express one clear comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “fountain,” “super market,” “covered,” “seats” and “playground,” so the reader can recognise several features of the plan. However, the range is limited and some choices are imprecise or repetitive. “Shifted” is used for changes that are better described as a building being replaced or converted, while “behind” does not clearly identify the new location of the restaurants and bars. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “childeren,” “resturants” and “facilites,” which reduce clarity. Practise accurate map vocabulary such as “located,” “replaced by,” “on the eastern side” and “to the south of,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example with “while” and “moreover,” but control is inconsistent and the sentence structures are mostly basic or run together. The opening fragment, “In 2014 there is a history museum and library,” does not clearly establish the comparison, and “in 2020 it has been shifted” has an unclear subject and an unsuitable tense for describing a plan. Other examples, such as “the town hal … is same as it was in 2014,” show problems with articles and sentence construction. Missing punctuation also makes the final passage hard to follow. Use clear past-tense descriptions for 2014 and planned or future forms for 2020, and separate each comparison into a complete sentence.
