Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify several important changes, including the replacement of the fish market by a supermarket, the history museum by an artists’ gallery, and the addition of seating and a play area. You also note that the town hall and central fountain remain. However, the response only partially covers the plans: it omits the library’s removal, the plant beds’ northern position, and the conversion of the eastern administrative buildings into shops. Some details are inaccurate or unclear, such as saying the fish market was “after the entrance partition downside.” There is also no clear overview that groups the main changes. To strengthen the report, summarise the overall shift from civic and market uses to commercial and recreational facilities, then describe the key locations accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response makes some comparisons between 2014 and 2020, and words such as “Comparatively,” “Moreover,” and “Lastly” signal additions. However, the information does not progress in a consistently clear order: it moves from the southern and western areas to the northern buildings, then back to central features. The opening also combines several locations in a long, difficult-to-follow sentence, and the transition from “these buildings” to the 2020 changes is unclear. Organise the report into a brief overview followed by one paragraph on the northern and western buildings and another on the square’s central and southern areas. Use clear references to each map year and avoid connectors that do not show the precise relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a plan, including “inverted L-shaped,” “replaced,” “covered seating,” and “plant beds.” This gives the reader a basic sense of the changes. However, the range is limited, and several choices are imprecise or awkward, such as “building areas,” “entrance partition,” and “expanding near to the center of the downside.” “Fisha market” is also misspelled, while “townhall” and “artists gallery” are not consistently formed. These issues sometimes make the locations or features difficult to interpret. Build a more precise map-description vocabulary, using terms such as “along the southern edge,” “to the west of,” “occupies the former site of,” and “is converted into.” Check spelling and standard forms of compound nouns.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to combine information using longer sentences and comparisons, but control is uneven. The opening has a sentence-boundary problem in “its center.surrounding,” and the following sentence fragment beginning “surrounding from the 4 sides” lacks a clear grammatical structure. Other patterns are also faulty, including “with a library upto the center of left side” and “townhall is as it is.” Articles, prepositions, and punctuation are not consistently controlled, which can make relationships between features unclear. Use a wider range of accurate sentence patterns: for example, state the 2014 layout in complete sentences, then use a controlled contrast such as “By 2020, the fish market had been replaced by a supermarket, while the town hall remained.” Proofread sentence boundaries and clause structure.
