Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response identifies a few genuine changes, including the history museum becoming a local artists’ gallery, the fountain remaining, and the addition of a playground and plant beds. However, it only minimally summarises the plans: there is no clear overview of the main transformation, and several important changes are omitted or confused. For example, the fish market is replaced by a supermarket, not an extra facility alongside it, and the administrative buildings are replaced by shops rather than being related to covered seating. Claims that the 2020 area is bigger and will have more noise or residents are not supported by the plans. Focus on accurately comparing the main replacements and new uses, without predicting effects not shown.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to group information by the two years and to connect ideas with words such as “while,” “therefore,” and “because.” However, the response does not develop a clear sequence from an overview to specific changes. Ideas are crowded into one paragraph, and several sentences run together or are separated by confusing punctuation, making relationships difficult to follow. The repeated references to “area of 2014” and “area of 2020” do not always clarify which feature is being discussed. Organise the response into an introduction and overview, followed by a paragraph on replacements and another on new or retained features. Use linking words only where the relationship is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some relevant map vocabulary, including “history museum,” “local artist gallery,” “plant beds,” “children play ground,” and “town hall,” so the reader can recognise several features. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and frequent spelling errors make the wording harder to understand, as in “featurs,” “gallary,” “oppertunitis,” and “fountatiopn.” Some expressions are imprecise: “extra things” and “some things are relevant” do not clearly describe changes, while “area … is big” is not an accurate way to report the plan. Learn and use precise change vocabulary such as “replaced by,” “retained,” and “converted into,” and check spelling before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response mainly uses short, simple statements and attempts a few links between clauses, for example, “because this reasen area of 2014 contain less things.” These attempts show some effort to connect ideas, but sentence structure is very limited and errors are frequent. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent (“town hall are”), articles and prepositions are often missing, and tense and sentence boundaries are not controlled. The opening, “in this diagram there are main featurs,” is also difficult to parse because the sentence is incomplete or incorrectly formed. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine related comparisons with structures such as “While the fountain remains, the bandstand is replaced by a playground.” Use full stops and capital letters consistently.
