Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify several relevant changes, including the supermarket replacing the fish market, the museum becoming a gallery, and new covered seating and a playground. However, the summary only partially reports the plan: the overview is unclear and includes unsupported claims that the fountain and town hall declined or increased. The fountain and town hall actually remain in place. Some details are also misreported or difficult to interpret, such as saying the fish market “rose” into a supermarket and suggesting the library changed, when it remains. To improve, give a clear overview of the main pattern—commercial buildings replace several older uses, while the central fountain stays—and accurately describe the major changes around the square.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has separate paragraphs and attempts to group information, with markers such as “Overall,” “In 2014,” and “Moreover.” These provide a basic framework, but the ideas do not progress clearly from an overview to organised comparisons. The second paragraph is difficult to follow, and later details jump between the centre, west, and southern edge without a consistent route or grouping. Connectors such as “nevertheless,” “after that,” and “in contract” do not always express the relationship between the points that follow them. Organise the report into a concise overview and two body paragraphs, for example grouping northern and central changes together, then describing western and southern/eastern changes.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt some task-relevant vocabulary, including “surrounding area,” “covered seating,” “administrative buildings,” and “local artists gallery.” However, inaccurate word choice and spelling often make the descriptions hard to understand: “rose in vast supermarket,” “plants bads,” and “five types of stores” do not clearly convey the map information. Several phrases are also unnatural, such as “levelled of” and “foundation of grow up.” Use precise map vocabulary and collocations, such as “was replaced by,” “is located to the east of,” and “remained unchanged.” Check spelling carefully, especially for key labels, because errors in words such as “museum” and “square” reduce clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

There are attempts to form longer sentences and use time contrasts, but control of sentence structure is weak, and errors frequently obscure relationships between features. For example, “in 2014 were areas slowly declined development” lacks a clear subject and has an unsuitable verb construction, while “fish restaurant and bar has closely connected” has problems with agreement and sentence structure. Tense and article use are also inconsistent, as in “i shows” and “a town in the between.” Punctuation and capitalisation are unreliable, with run-on sentences and missing spaces after commas. Build accuracy first with clear subject–verb sentences, then combine them using controlled clauses such as “The fish market was replaced by a supermarket.”
