Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify a few genuine changes, including the history museum becoming an artists’ gallery, the addition of planting and seating, and the fountain remaining central. However, the response only partially reports the map: it focuses on opinions about whether changes are “good” or “profitable” rather than describing the main redevelopment. The claim that there is a “slope” for disabled people is not supported by the plans, and the fish restaurant is not described as being in front of the fish market. Important changes, such as the supermarket replacing the fish market and shops replacing the administrative buildings, are omitted. Give a concise overview of the main transformations, then accurately describe the key locations and changes without adding unsupported benefits.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has a basic chronological structure, moving between 2014 and 2020, and it uses simple links such as “but,” “in 2020,” and “in both plans.” However, ideas are not grouped into clear paragraphs or organised into an overview followed by supporting details. The repeated comments that the development is “very well,” “comfortable,” and “attractive” interrupt the description, while several points appear in an unclear order. References such as “there” and “its” do not always make the location or subject clear. Organise the response into an introduction, an overview, and one or two paragraphs describing the changes by area; use linking words to show comparisons rather than repeating general evaluations.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “history museum,” “plant area,” “seating,” “fish market,” and “fountain,” so the reader can recognise several features. However, the range is limited and general words such as “good,” “attractive,” and “profitable” are repeated instead of precise terms for describing redevelopment. Some choices are unclear or unsuitable, including “the most demanded on,” “fish sellars,” and “slope” for a feature not shown on the map. Improve precision by using terms such as “replaced by,” “converted into,” “located,” and “perimeter,” and name the actual facilities shown. Check spelling and word forms, especially in key descriptive vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Most sentences use a simple pattern, often beginning with “there is,” and there are attempts to compare the two plans using “but” and “in both plans.” However, errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. For example, “the town square in 2014 and 2020 are developed” has an unclear subject and incorrect agreement, while “in 2020 there is a artist gallery” has an article error. Tense and sentence construction are also inconsistent in “its gain the customers” and “the both are good.” Use past tense for the 2014 map and future or planned-change language for the 2020 proposal. Practise accurate articles, subject–verb agreement, and complete comparison sentences.
