Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several major changes, including the fish market becoming a supermarket, the history museum becoming an artists’ gallery, and administrative buildings being replaced by shops. However, the overview is vague: “the huge change is occured” does not clearly summarise the main pattern, and some details are inaccurate. The plant beds did not replace the bandstand; they were added in the northern part of the square, while the playground occupies the bandstand’s former area. You also overlook the fountain’s retention and the new covered seating, and “no specific change” to the southern businesses misses their division into multiple bars and restaurants. The response is 142 words, below the 150-word minimum. Include a clearer overview and report the main changes accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing changes. This gives the reader some organisation, and connectors such as “Overall,” “In addition,” and “Moreover” help signal relationships. However, progression is not consistently clear because the overview repeats individual changes without identifying the broad transformation, and the later paragraphs revisit the same features, such as the gallery and shops. Some links are also awkward or unclear, particularly “In addition, childrens playground and covered seating both are freshly added in southeast corner,” which combines features in different locations. Group the information by area or by what remains and what changes, and use precise references to make the sequence easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant map vocabulary, including “northwest side,” “converted into,” “addition,” and “southeast corner,” so the reader can understand many of the changes. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, making the description less precise. For example, “the whole area go through the process of reconstruction” is an awkward way to describe redevelopment, while “switched into” and “swapped with” are less suitable for describing buildings changing use. There are also spelling errors such as “surrornding,” “resturants,” and “childrens.” Choose standard planning terms such as “redeveloped,” “replaced by,” and “located,” and check spelling and apostrophes to improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including “The administrative building is now changed into retailed shops and history museum is altered into local artists gallery.” However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. Subject–verb agreement is incorrect in “diagrams shows” and “the whole area go,” while verb forms are faulty in “is now changed” and “is occured.” Articles and plurals are also often missing or inconsistent, as in “history museum” and “childrens playground.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation need attention too: “Moreover,The” lacks a space, and several sentences join multiple changes without clear grammatical structure. Practise accurate past-to-present comparisons and use shorter, complete sentences before adding more complex forms.
