Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the two dates and mention several relevant features, including the fish market, town hall, central fountain, and the new supermarket and gallery. However, the main changes are not reported clearly or accurately enough: the administrative buildings are replaced by shops, and the southern buildings become bars and restaurants, but these transformations are not explained. The statement that there are “not any drastic change” also conflicts with the substantial redevelopment shown. Some locations are vague or misdescribed, such as calling the plant beds and seating “corner” features. To strengthen the response, give a clear overview of what remains and what is replaced, then compare the key changes by area without adding personal opinions about the square being a “desent place.”
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, a general overview, and paragraphs describing the two plans. This gives the reader a recognisable sequence from 2014 to 2020. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven, and several ideas are crowded together in long sentences, particularly the lists of surrounding buildings. Connectors such as “Firstly” and “On the other hand” help signal movement, but “while” and “So” do not always express the relationships between the information clearly. The reference to “the front corner” is also unclear. Grouping features by location and using clearer comparisons—for example, “the fish market was replaced by a supermarket”—would make the account easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “fountain,” “town hall,” “covered seating,” and “children’s playground,” and you attempt to describe change with “development” and “renewate.” However, spelling errors are frequent, as in “givan,” “illustartes,” “shrounding,” and “hiddle,” and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or unclear. Phrases such as “the land is ploted” and “the corner is cover by the plant beds” do not communicate the map features precisely. The vocabulary range is therefore limited for describing locations and redevelopment. Practise accurate forms such as “surrounding,” “renovated,” and “planted,” and use precise verbs like “replaced,” “remained,” and “was converted into.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a contrast with “On the other hand” and a clause beginning “So, compared to the past year.” However, errors in sentence structure, tense, agreement, articles, and punctuation are frequent and sometimes make relationships difficult to understand. For example, “there are so many development” has an agreement and plural problem, while “in the center of the town there was a beautiful fountain” shifts awkwardly from the present description to the past. The final sentence also combines several ideas without clear grammatical links. Use consistent past-tense forms for 2014 and future or planned forms for 2020, and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
