Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the broad change from a market and administrative area to a more leisure- and retail-focused square, and correctly mention the supermarket replacing the fish market, the artists’ gallery, plant beds, playground, covered seating, and new shops and restaurants. However, several important details are missing or unclear: the fountain remains in the centre, the town hall is retained, and the bandstand is replaced by the playground. The statement that the library was removed is not supported by the visual information, and “the bandstand remove” does not clearly report the change. The response is also 10 words below the 150-word minimum, with the eight copied prompt words excluded. Add a fuller overview and precise comparisons to cover the plan more completely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure: an introduction, an overall statement, and two paragraphs describing changes. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “In addition,” and “Furthermore” help signal that you are listing features. However, progression is not consistently clear, and the contrast marker “In contrast” does not introduce a clear contrast. Some sentences combine several changes without showing how they relate spatially, while the final sentence is difficult to follow. Capitalisation after transitions is also inconsistent, as in “Firstly, The area” and “Morever, In 2020.” Group the information by location or by what is retained and replaced, and use linking phrases only when their relationship is accurate.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant map vocabulary, including “supermarket,” “local artists gallery,” “plant beds,” “playground,” and “covered seating,” so the reader can identify several planned facilities. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations make the description unclear, such as “the area remove,” “recognise the different shops,” and “the down side of the chart.” Spelling errors, including “sorrounding,” “Morever,” “restaurents,” and “residentals,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise verbs for map changes, such as “replaces,” “is converted into,” and “is divided into,” and use location terms like “southern edge” rather than vague expressions. This will make the account more natural and exact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, for example, “In addition, the library removed from the area” and the sentence beginning “Furthermore.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include “The bandstand remove from the area and add some new places,” where the verbs need passive forms, and “the area built the supermarket,” where the map feature should be described as being built or replacing another facility. The sentence about the southern side lacks clear grammatical structure and punctuation. Practise accurate passive constructions for planned changes, such as “The fish market will be replaced by a supermarket,” and check that each sentence has a clear subject and verb.
