Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main purpose of the plans and report several important changes, including the fish market becoming a supermarket, the history museum becoming an artists’ gallery, and administrative buildings being replaced by shops. The overview also recognises substantial redevelopment. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the town hall, not a “town market,” remains in place; the plant beds are in the northern portion rather than “at both of the corners”; and the library’s fate is not stated, although the southern perimeter buildings become bars and restaurants. The fountain’s continued presence is also worth noting. This covers the task, but some features are reported less fully or precisely than others. To strengthen the response, compare the plans systematically and verify each location and change against the diagram.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overall statement, and two body paragraphs organised around the upper and lower parts of the square. This gives the reader a basic progression through the plans. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Firstly,” and “Secondly” help signal that structure, although the repeated directional framing is somewhat mechanical. Some connections between details are unclear—for example, “the library and fish restaurant was bar and restaurants” does not make the relationship between these features easy to follow. The final sentence also adds features without clearly locating them in relation to one another. Use clearer topic sentences and group changes by area or type, while making each comparison explicit and ensuring references such as “there” have an unmistakable location.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing changes, including “replaced,” “converted,” “additions,” and “covered seating area,” so the reader can understand the general redevelopment. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “tremdous major redevelopment,” “town market,” and “the down of the fountain.” Spelling errors in “sqaure,” “tremdous,” “admistration,” and “multiples” also reduce accuracy. Some terms are repeated, particularly “town square” and “area,” and the response could use more precise map vocabulary to distinguish buildings, facilities, and positions. Build a small set of accurate phrases for describing locations and replacements, and check spelling and word forms before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while” and “as well as,” but control is uneven. Errors in agreement and verb forms appear in “The first plans shows” and “the library and fish restaurant was,” while the opening sentence is missing articles in “while second plan.” The phrase “the history museum was local artist gallery” also needs a clearer grammatical structure, such as “the history museum became a local artists’ gallery.” Some sentences are difficult to follow because their clauses are not formed clearly, especially “if started from upper side of town square.” Use straightforward, complete sentences first, then add subordinate clauses carefully. Check articles, singular/plural agreement, and past-tense forms throughout.
