Student answer (Band 7.0)
Nowadays, more and more people are concerned about recycling. It is argued by some sectors of society that the recycling is a good approach to protect environment, while others argue that people should consume less rather than recycling. I acknowledge that both approaches are valid and beneficial, but I am concerned over the consumption of plastic and other non biodegradable goods rather than recycling. I believe that latter approach and view is more practical and good.
As a matter of fact, we use plastic in our daily life chores and consume it without knowing its effect on climate. So, that is the reason why plastic utilization should be lessen. Furthermore, recycling plastic is not easy at all and it is not cost-effective as it seems because there are various kinds of plastic so it is difficult to separate and recycle. For instance, take a shampoo bottle, the container of shampoo bottle might be made of one kind of plastic, while its lid made of other, label made of other and it is not a cup of cake in terms of cost and also in terms of time to separate different kinds of plastic from garbage and trash.
As far as, I am concerned the plastic nowadays is made of different kind of dangerous chemicals in resilience to fire and explosion. If these kinds of plastic burn in order to mold and recycle it, it would be more hazardous to our health and also be very harmful to our climate, wildlife and could cause serious climate changes. So, in this way it would not be a wise step to protect environment. Also, less consumption of plastic resultant in decline of waste management problems, as well as, it reduces the direct harm to wildlife, ecosystem and to our aquatic life.
Although, there are some measures everyone should take a part in which in order to protect our ecosystem. The government should take measures and initiatives to reduce the consumption of plastic and other non biodegradable products. Additionally, the administration should aware people about its damages and devastation. Furthermore, local volunteers and local administrations should run different campaigns in order to make people aware about less utilization of plastic.
In conclusion, despite the valid arguments given by opponents regarding recycling, I am still convinced that the benefits of less recycling are more substantial.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses both views—recycling and reducing consumption—and provides a clear personal position. The ideas are relevant, particularly the practical challenges of recycling plastic. However, the development is slightly uneven; while the argument against recycling is well-supported with examples like the shampoo bottle, the discussion on the benefits of 'consuming less' is somewhat repetitive. The conclusion contains a slight error in phrasing ('benefits of less recycling' instead of 'benefits of consuming less'), which slightly confuses the final summary of the position. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, but the depth of analysis could be improved to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'As far as, I am concerned the plastic nowadays...'. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, and the transition between the body paragraphs could be smoother. Despite these minor issues, the progression of ideas is logical and easy to follow throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express complex ideas about environmental issues. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'non-biodegradable', 'resilience', and 'devastation'. However, there are also some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'cup of cake' (an incorrect idiom, likely confusing 'piece of cake' with 'cup of tea') and 'resultant in' (should be 'results in'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of the argument.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the recycling', 'the environment'), subject-verb agreement ('plastic utilization should be lessen'), and prepositional usage. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward phrasings that affect the natural flow of the text. The errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points. To improve, the writer should focus on consistent verb forms and article usage.
