Student answer (Band 6.5)
Recycling has become a widely debated concern in this modern era of environmental degradation. The advocates of recycling emphasize on the importance of this process and its long tern benefits on atmosphere. However, the critics believe that we should reduce consumption because recycling is not sufficient to eliminate the harmful effects of environmental deterioration. From my perspective, I strongly believe that governments and individuals should pay a particular attention to activating recycling process on a large-scale.
To begin with, Recycling of waste has several benefits because it helps to eradicate detrimental effects of waste on the environment. Many products that are made from paper, metal or glass can be reused after recycling without harming the environment. For example, recycling plants in many countries are making it possible to use waste materials again by transforming it to a new commodity. In this way, recycling promoting the concept of reusing the waste and cleaning the atmosphere. As a result, we can get rid of waste pollution if we recycle on a large-scale. Consequently, The recycling not only cleans the environment but also makes it possible to use waste material that also helpful to fulfilling the high demands of consumers.
Conversely, the opponents of recycling suggest consuming less because many products particularly which are made of plastic are difficult to waste even if we recycle it many time. For instance, many coasts are flooded with plastic equipment which is discarded into oceans after using several time. If we use less plastic, it will help us to clean the environment. This will lead to less waste if we limit our needs. Therefore, less consumption would safeguard the atmosphere by eradicating waste pollution.
To conclude, i would say that the benefits of recycling far outweigh the drawbacks because it promotes the environment conservation and protection in the long run.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the benefits of recycling are explained, the discussion on 'consuming less' is less detailed and relies on a single example regarding plastic. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the two perspectives. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that both sides of the argument are explored with equal depth and provide more nuanced reasoning for your own position, rather than simply stating that one side outweighs the other without further justification.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Conversely', and 'Consequently' to link sentences and paragraphs. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'The recycling not only cleans...'. Additionally, the use of referencing is occasionally unclear. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a strong, unified focus would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'environmental degradation', 'detrimental effects', and 'safeguard'. However, there are several word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'difficult to waste' (should be 'difficult to dispose of') and 'activating recycling process' (should be 'implementing recycling processes'). Some vocabulary is repetitive, and there is a lack of more sophisticated, less common lexical items. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more precise terminology to express your ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the recycling', 'the atmosphere'), subject-verb agreement ('recycling promoting'), and pluralization ('many time'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary capitalization of 'The' in the middle of sentences. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically regarding articles and verb forms.
