Student answer (Band 6.5)

In this modern era, people buy more and more things without they need it or not. concern for environment has been increased day by day due to it they choose recycling method. While others claim that recycling is not only the method. In the upcoming paragraphs I will explain the both notions along with my opinion.

To commence with those who believe recycling is the best way because it reduce lots of pollution and save money to buy things. To be more precise, if people can use cotton bags instead of plastic bag. It will help to reduce the worries of environment as plastic cannot recycle for a long period of time but cotton bags can be reuse and it cannot harm the environment. For instance, a recently survey is conducted in a small village it can be seen that the inhabitants of that village use cotton bags and the atmosphere of that place is very fresh and calm. Thus, in this way recycling play a crucial role to protect the environment.

On the other hand, those who think recycling is not enough. They need to consume less because it will save their money. To be explicated it, if individuals spend less on unnecessary things it will automatically save their money and do not spread litter of packages, food and many more. so it will help in to reduce the concern regarding to environment. For example, a policy was implemented in america"company, which use less product that company will give discount.

To conclude, I am in favour of second notion that other factors are also important for environment protection like government an people also take some necessary steps to protect the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The arguments regarding recycling and consuming less are presented, but the supporting examples, such as the 'small village' and the 'America company' policy, are vague and lack sufficient detail to fully support the points made. The position is clear, but the conclusion is slightly underdeveloped, as it introduces new ideas (government action) rather than summarizing the main points discussed. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a more robust explanation and a concrete, well-explained example.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To be explicated it'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The use of punctuation is inconsistent, which sometimes disrupts the logical flow of the argument. Improving the variety and naturalness of linking words will help elevate the score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at topic-specific vocabulary like 'environment protection' and 'inhabitants'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'spread litter of packages' and 'notions' used in a context where 'perspectives' or 'viewpoints' would be more natural. Some errors, such as 'recently survey', are minor but noticeable. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring correct word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'recycling play a crucial role'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'cannot recycle' instead of 'cannot be recycled'), and missing articles or prepositions. Sentence boundaries are occasionally blurred, and some phrasing is ungrammatical, such as 'without they need it or not'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall fluency of the writing. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors would be beneficial.
