Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the world, as the time passes the world population is increasing day by day. That's why the demand of necessary things is also gaining to high point. We could not make new wrapper or bottle for each person. There should be some precautions because in another case it will cause pollution.

First of all, One of the way to reduce environmental problems is recycling the things.

I am talking about the wrapper, plastic or glass bottle which are used to store food and drinks.

If we managed and implemented the regulations and rules which are related to the motive of recycling, We will be able to deduce the harsh pollution of the world in some decades. For example, if we make and apply strict rules on the companies which are manufacturing the soft drinks like Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Fanta etc. They should must recycled their bottles after using by people instead of creating or producing new. It will come as a better output for the environment.

Second of all, we can say that after deep analysis, Recycling is not the end solution of all problems of environment. We need to have a look and care about our consumption of things. If we gained our usage, there would be alarming situation in future. we have to change our daily routine and rely on the natural available food and fruits.

In my opinion, We should must apply laws on all the companies and strict them to implement rules. Moreover, we also have to be careful about our usage of the artificial things.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both views regarding recycling and consumption, and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the suggestion to 'rely on natural available food' is vague and lacks a clear connection to the broader issue of consumption. The essay would benefit from more specific examples and a more thorough exploration of why consumption reduction is considered superior to recycling. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments are underdeveloped, which aligns with the descriptors for Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'First of all' and 'Second of all' are used, but the internal flow within paragraphs is disjointed. For example, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is abrupt. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the logical progression of ideas is hindered by the lack of sophisticated linking words. The paragraphing is present but the overall flow is somewhat repetitive, justifying a Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and often repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choice, such as 'gaining to high point' instead of 'increasing significantly' and 'deduce the harsh pollution' instead of 'reduce environmental pollution'. The student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'recycling' and 'manufacturing', but the range is limited and lacks precision. The errors in word choice occasionally make the intended meaning slightly unclear, though the general message remains understandable. This level of lexical control is consistent with Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentences, but these are frequently marred by grammatical errors. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('They should must recycled'), incorrect verb forms, and awkward phrasing ('In the world, as the time passes'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary capitalisation and comma usage errors. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the frequency of errors is high, and the range of structures is limited. This performance aligns with Band 5.0.
