Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While both views are addressed, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack depth. For instance, the discussion on recycling is repetitive, and the section on consuming less lacks concrete examples or logical expansion. The conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, which prevents a clear, fully developed position from being established. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples and ensure the essay is of sufficient length to allow for a thorough exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with' and 'Nevertheless', they are sometimes used mechanically or inappropriately. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the lack of a completed conclusion disrupts the overall flow of the argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly supports your central argument, leading to a logical conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'save energy' and 'save so many trees' are simplistic. There are also instances of awkward word choices, such as 'Environmental evil' and 'less consume', which hinder clarity. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas effectively. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and synonyms. For example, instead of repeating 'save', use terms like 'conserve', 'mitigate', or 'preserve' to demonstrate a broader lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'it save energy' and 'making of paper need'. Additionally, sentence structures are often simple or contain errors in word order, such as 'less consume'. The use of complex sentences is limited and often inaccurate. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly subject-verb agreement and correct word order, before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for these basic errors would significantly improve the quality of your writing.
