Student answer (Band 4.0)
the topic is interesting, if i talk about this like environment growing more, as well the industrial area also growing, they doing their work' but somewhere they polluted the air by leaving the dark and chemical air form chimneys. but starting to put tree making to recycle the air polluted to make air again clean and the for breathing. so our daily needs we can't go with less usage of the some things which makes pollution. however we can do some thing to make air clean. my opinion only on this, government should provide the limit for factories or furnace do not exceed the provide limit to not make the air pollute.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 112 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. The essay does not address both views mentioned in the prompt (recycling vs. consuming less) in a balanced or structured way. Instead, it focuses primarily on industrial pollution and government regulation, which is only tangentially related to the core prompt. The position is unclear, and the arguments are underdeveloped and lack supporting examples. Because the response is severely under-length and fails to address the specific prompt requirements, it falls into the lower band range.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks paragraphing, which is essential for a Task 2 response. The flow of ideas is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link sentences or ideas logically. For example, the transition from discussing industrial pollution to the suggestion about government limits is abrupt and lacks a clear logical progression. The overall structure is informal and does not follow the standard essay format required for an Academic Task 2 response.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. The student relies on basic, often inaccurate phrasing such as 'making to recycle the air' and 'dark and chemical air'. There is a lack of topic-specific vocabulary related to environmental issues or sustainability. Word choice is frequently imprecise, such as 'provide the limit for factories', which does not convey the intended meaning of 'imposing regulations'. The range is insufficient to express complex ideas, and the errors in word formation and collocation are frequent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are significant issues with sentence structure, such as run-on sentences and fragments (e.g., 'but starting to put tree making to recycle the air polluted to make air again clean and the for breathing'). Subject-verb agreement is often incorrect, and there is a lack of complex sentence structures. Punctuation is inconsistent, and the overall control of grammar is weak, making the text difficult to read and understand.
