Student answer (Band 6.0)
Environmental awareness is growing among people, as they are recycling more products. But a group of people think that only recycling will not help much if we do not reduce our consumption. I also agree that reduction of consumption is similarly important as recycling.
People who think recycling is the solution, argue that the more we will recycle the more pressure would be relieved from the environment. Nowadays, people are becoming more eager to recycle a product multiple time. As a result, the resources will be consumed less for less production cycle is required. But energy is still a big issue in recycling product manufacturing. But if consumption remains the same, only the raw materials consumption will go down, not the energy consumption. In the end, it will not solve the whole problem and building a sustainable society will not be possible.
Reduction of consumption is a very effective strategy to save the environment. If we consume less product and recycle the consumed product, it will not only lower the raw material usage, but also the energy consumption. We are using computers in every sectors of our life and discarding them after they do not work anymore. So, as a result, computer related waste is mounting up throughout the world. Different rare earth metals used in building these components. People have several of these apparatus in their personal belongings this days. So, if they become aware and use less number of devices according to their need and send them to the recycling plant after their lifecycle ends, the consumption of rare earth metals as well as energy required to produce them can be minimized.
In conclusion, recycling is not the only solution towards building an environment friendly world. Reduction of consumption together with recycling will help us to save the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the importance of recycling and the necessity of reducing consumption. You clearly state your position in the introduction and maintain it throughout. The ideas are relevant, particularly the discussion on energy consumption in manufacturing and the environmental impact of electronic waste. However, the development of the first viewpoint (recycling) is slightly repetitive, and the argument could be strengthened by providing more specific examples of how consumption reduction can be implemented in daily life. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme. You use cohesive devices such as 'As a result,' 'In the end,' and 'In conclusion' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For instance, the transition between the discussion of recycling and the energy issue in the second paragraph is a bit abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two main arguments, which helps the reader follow your line of reasoning.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'sustainable society,' 'rare earth metals,' and 'lifecycle.' There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'use less number of devices' (should be 'a smaller number of devices') and 'in every sectors' (should be 'in every sector'). While you attempt to use more sophisticated vocabulary, the control is not always consistent. To reach a higher band, focus on more precise collocations and ensure that pluralization and word forms are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'recycle a product multiple time' (should be 'times') and 'Different rare earth metals used in building these components' (missing a verb, e.g., 'are used'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article errors throughout the text. While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication, and the meaning remains clear. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with accurate verb forms.
