Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this contemporary era, environment pollution has become a serious concern. Some people argued that recycling is a great way to reduce the problem. Others consider that it is not enough and should consume less. This essay will discuss both the perspectives in the forthcoming paragraphs and explaining why I believe that various other methods are also useful along with recycling.
To commence with, undoubtedly recycling plays a vital role for reducing pollution problem, if people recycle their household waste such as use plastic bottles into plant pots and throw waste in recycling bins instead of public places, as a result more and more products should be recycled and come again in use. Moreover, government should increase the number of recycling bins in public places, homes and tourist attractions should encourage people to throw waste into bins. Consequently, the small steps taken by individual and government level should have a big impact to preserve nature.
On the other hand, only recycling is not enough to decline pollution but it is not possible to consume less, so people and authorities should use other helpful methods such as reducing the
use of personal vehicles, use renewable energy, and say no to plastic . for example, nowadays people have hectic schedule, so they order outside food with unnecessary plastic packaging which leads to plastic pollution . hence, individual need to use products with less plastic packaging .Also, authorities should encourage people to use environment friendly products through campaigns and advertisements. Therefore, these efforts are useful to save environment.
from my perspective, Although recycling is not only capable to save environment . There are number of methods that are helpful . I personally believe that authorities and people need to do combined efforts to save nature such as government should provide insentives to people, who do recycling , so more and more people helps to recycle.
To conclude, recycling is one of the best method to save environment but consuming less may be impossible .So, people should use more environment friendly products and avoid plastic and government need to increase recycling bins and should teach people to use renewable energy sources.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views regarding recycling and consuming less. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the recycling perspective is supported with examples like 'plastic bottles into plant pots', the argument for consuming less is less effectively developed, as the essay claims it is 'not possible' to consume less, which limits the depth of the discussion. The position is clear, but the reasoning could be more nuanced to fully explore the complexities of the prompt. The conclusion briefly touches on the points but lacks a strong synthesis of the arguments presented.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'Consequently' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. There are issues with sentence-level cohesion, particularly in the final paragraph where the flow is interrupted by fragmented phrasing. Referencing is generally clear, but the progression of ideas within the paragraphs could be smoother to better guide the reader through the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'renewable energy', 'household waste', and 'environment friendly products'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'decline pollution' (should be 'reduce' or 'mitigate') and 'insentives' (spelling error). The range is sufficient for the task, but more precise and sophisticated vocabulary would be needed to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Some people argued', 'individual need to use'), punctuation errors (spacing before periods), and awkward phrasing ('recycling is not only capable to save environment'). These errors are noticeable but do not significantly impede communication. To improve, the student should focus on consistent verb tense usage and refining complex sentence construction to ensure greater accuracy.
