Student answer (Band 6.0)
There a numerous reasons for people to buy things, either they need it or they want it as they like it. Then the old items are also replaced with new products and this procress goes on. But we never concern about the old objects, whether they are biodegradable or not and whether they can be recycled or not. Now-a-days, people are gaining more and more concern for the environment and so many of us are choosing to recycle old items. But some proportion of people suggested that recycling is not enough and they believe we need to consume less.
I believe that people should start to consume less products as much of the material used to make many items are neither non recyclable nor biodegradable. Such elements are causing huge harm to our nature and harming the balance of biodiversity as well. For exampls, many goods made up of plastic or nylon material are not compatible for recycling or degeneration and can take upto 500 years to fully decompose.
But there are various things which are only made up of such items and it is our necessity to use such products. So the best we can do is to make sure that everyone should consume less and try to avoid the use of such items.
We can also contribute in recycling products to make sure that less pollution will be generated by us. We should choose sustainable items over non degradable ones like replacing plastic with metal items. We should also try to make use of products made up of natural materials which will help us to replace plastic goods. People should make aware with the idea of recycling things to reduce trash waste.
Such small changes in our day to day life will help us to achieve less pollution, less consumption and resulting in better environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the role of recycling and the necessity of reducing consumption. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you state your opinion clearly, the supporting arguments—such as the mention of plastic taking 500 years to decompose—are brief and could be expanded with more specific examples or logical consequences. The discussion on 'consuming less' is a bit repetitive, and the transition between the two views could be more distinct to ensure a more balanced exploration of the topic. Overall, the position is clear, but the depth of analysis is more characteristic of a Band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For example, the frequent use of 'and' to connect clauses and the reliance on simple transition words like 'But' at the start of sentences limits the flow. Referencing is generally clear, but some sentences feel disconnected from the previous ones. To reach a higher band, try using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to create smoother transitions between your ideas and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'biodegradable,' 'sustainable,' and 'degeneration' correctly. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'never concern about' (should be 'never concerned about') and 'make aware with' (should be 'be made aware of'). The vocabulary is functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Expanding your range to include more idiomatic expressions or precise academic collocations would significantly improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'There a numerous reasons' (missing 'are'), 'consume less products' (should be 'fewer products'), and 'neither non recyclable nor biodegradable' (double negative error). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the frequency of these minor errors prevents the writing from being considered error-free. You have a good grasp of basic structures, but more attention to subject-verb agreement and word forms is needed.
