Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, environment is shield of human survival. A group of people think that, recycling has major key factor to reduce the level of pollution. However, others argue that, recycling is not just thing that saving the environment. In my opinion, government could develop various alternative options to save the environment.

On the one hand, recycling and reusing the product has multiple benefits to the societies as well as environment. Because with the help of recycling many non-degradable products could be recycled and the non-degradable products like plastic and glass. In addition to, the non-degradable products are not only spoil into the soil, but it also polluted land. As a consequence, these types of non-degradable products may convert fertile land to unfertile lands. For instance, as per a recent survey of the Time of India, one of most largest metropolitan city Delhi, the municipal corporation introduced one recycle machine into the city centre so at the end majority of the plastic waste is recycle. But still I do not concur with this view.

On the other hand, recycling is a significant way to reduce the pollution form the earth. But government can also introduce many alternative ways rather than recycling the products. Firstly, government should spent the awareness of harmful effects of plastic. Hence, people can use minimal amount of plastic. Secondly, municipal corporations should also band some plastic products. As result, many individuals consume less amount plastic. Lastly, the government should not only reduce the price of the cotton bags, but also it increase the price of the plastic bags. In my opinion, I concur with this view.

In my perception, there are plenty of advantages to the people consume less amount of products which are harmful for the environment or sometimes they can reuse the products so is is an alternative option. Besides this, the government should spread seminar and webinars into the school.

To conclude, the government should not only focus on the development of the country, but also focus on those products which are harmful for both living organisms and earth so as result the government could address this issue and overcome it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat inconsistent. While the first body paragraph discusses recycling, the second body paragraph attempts to discuss 'consuming less' but becomes repetitive and slightly confused in its focus, as it returns to government intervention rather than focusing on the consumer's role. The arguments are relevant but lack depth, and the conclusion is a bit generic. To reach a higher band, you should ensure each paragraph focuses clearly on one aspect of the prompt and provides more detailed, logical support for your claims.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'In addition to, the non-degradable products...' is grammatically incorrect, and the transition 'But still I do not concur with this view' is abrupt and does not logically link to the previous sentence. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between ideas is occasionally disjointed. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would significantly enhance the logical progression of your arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'environment is shield of human survival' (should be 'the environment is a shield for...') and 'spoiled into the soil'. You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'non-degradable' and 'municipal corporation', but the overall range is limited. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing like 'non-degradable products' multiple times in a single paragraph.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include missing articles ('the environment', 'the city centre'), incorrect verb forms ('government should spent', 'it increase the price'), and awkward phrasing ('is is an alternative option'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles.
