Student answer (Band 5.5)

Environment places a crucial role in human lives and it is getting damaged by human developmental activities, in this contemporary world concern for the environment is increasing day by day and now people prefer to recycle the waste material . However, some people have a belief that some additional steps should be taken to preserve the environment by reducing the consumption as recycling will not be the enough . Both the views will be discussed in this easy.

On the one hand, this is positive aspect of humans that there concern is increasing regularly towards the environment . As per there opinion , recycling is the best way to save our surroundings as by using the used material through reusing will help to reduce the production of materials that have adverse effect on the habitat. For instance, plastic is a non biodegradable and reuse of plastic bags can play a significant role in lessen the production of plastic bags.

On the other hand, other people have a belief that only recycling is not the only measure that should be taken to save the environment . Other measures also should be taken by the authorities as well as local people . Firstly, government should imply strict polices against those people who pollute the environment . For instance, government should take strict actions against t the industries whom release the harmful toxic water directly into the rivers. Furthermore, social campaigns should be launched to make the country's population aware about the environment.

In conclusion, I personally agree with the group two that other measures should be taken to save our surroundings for this present generation and for upcoming generations also.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention recycling and reducing consumption, the arguments lack depth. For instance, the section on 'reducing consumption' focuses more on government policy and pollution control rather than the core concept of consuming less (e.g., minimalism, sustainable purchasing). The essay is also quite brief in its analysis, which prevents it from reaching a higher band. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph fully explores the implications of the viewpoint rather than just listing general suggestions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'Furthermore,' which help the flow. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and there are issues with referencing. For example, 'the group two' is an awkward way to refer back to a previously mentioned idea. Additionally, the progression of ideas within paragraphs could be smoother; some sentences feel like a list of points rather than a cohesive argument. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring clear pronoun referencing would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'contemporary world,' 'adverse effect,' and 'non-biodegradable.' However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'Environment places a crucial role' (should be 'plays'), 'recycling will not be the enough' (should be 'enough'), and 'there concern' (should be 'their'). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that word forms are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'there concern is increasing' (their), 'whom release' (who), and 'recycling will not be the enough.' Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward phrasings that affect the natural flow of the writing. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of relative pronouns. Proofreading for basic errors like 'there' versus 'their' will also significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
