Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the topic but fails to clearly distinguish between the two views requested. The essay lacks a formal structure, appearing as a single block of text rather than distinct paragraphs. While you mention recycling and consuming less, the development of these ideas is superficial and repetitive. The prompt asks to discuss both views and provide an opinion, but the lack of clear topic sentences and logical progression makes it difficult to follow your argument. To improve, ensure you dedicate separate paragraphs to each viewpoint and provide specific, well-reasoned examples to support your claims rather than listing general problems like pollution.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The essay lacks paragraphing, which is a fundamental requirement for a Band 6 or higher. The flow of ideas is disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is minimal and often inaccurate (e.g., 'As you can see the statement', 'so the other point of view'). There is no clear logical progression; the text jumps between discussing pollution types, recycling, and consumption without effective transitions. To improve, you must organize your response into an introduction, body paragraphs for each viewpoint, and a conclusion. Use linking words like 'furthermore', 'conversely', and 'consequently' to connect your ideas more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'pollution', 'environment', and 'products'. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'dirt pollution' instead of 'soil pollution' and 'effect on your environment' (where 'affect' is the correct verb). Some phrases are awkward, such as 'the environment is growing day by day'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to environmental issues and improve your control over word forms (e.g., distinguishing between 'affect' and 'effect').

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('Factories is also involved'), missing articles, and run-on sentences. The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some attempts at complex ones that are often grammatically flawed. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with many missing commas and periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, and practicing the correct use of articles and prepositions.
