Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views regarding recycling and consumption, and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument about recycling is supported by basic examples like 'using a glass jar,' which lacks depth. The discussion on consumption is more analytical, touching on manufacturing and carbon emissions, but the overall explanation remains brief. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations or specific real-world examples. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments need more elaboration to fully meet the requirements of a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression from the introduction to the conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'on the one hand,' 'furthermore,' and 'in addition to,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'this particular products have various purposes.' Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'if they do not buy it,' where the antecedent is not explicitly defined. Improving the variety and natural flow of your linking words will help elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'non-degradable,' 'fossil fuels,' and 'carbon emissions.' However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'use non degradable things are highly in demand' instead of 'the demand for non-degradable items is high,' and 'effect to our environment' instead of 'affect our environment.' The range is sufficient for the task, but the lack of precision and occasional errors in word formation prevent a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('recycle method have widely used'), missing articles ('in the plastic industries'), and incorrect verb forms ('it will saving fossil fuels'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces before commas and periods. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately.
